Our Story
A Jacksonville Legacy
Earle Charles (E.C.) Kenyon relocated his family to Jacksonville while working for the George D. Auchter Company as an Assistant General Superintendent. During this period, he participated in major infrastructure projects, including work associated with the original Palm Valley Bridge.
The George D. Auchter Company—later known as The Auchter Company—was one of Florida's oldest and most respected construction firms. Founded in 1929, the company contributed to numerous World War II-era efforts, including dry dock construction and repair facilities supporting the war effort.
The experience E.C. gained during these formative years laid the foundation for what would become his own successful contracting business.

Following years of experience in the construction industry, E.C. established E.C. Kenyon Construction Company in 1944.
What began as a small family-operated business would grow into one of Jacksonville's respected general contracting firms. In the early 1960s, E.C.'s sons Dana, Jerry, and Leslie joined the company and helped continue its growth and reputation throughout Northeast Florida.
Over the following decades, the firm became known for quality construction, long-standing client relationships, and a commitment to craftsmanship.
Never one to remain idle, Dana Bradford Kenyon came out of retirement in 1983 and established what would later become the Dana B. Kenyon Company (DBK).
Shortly after founding the business, Dana brought his son Matthew Earle Kenyon into the company. Matthew had already developed practical construction experience through his work with E.C. Kenyon Company and later graduated from the University of North Florida with a degree in Building Construction Management.
Beginning with residential renovation projects, DBK steadily expanded into commercial, industrial, and heavy manufacturing construction throughout the United States.
Dana eventually retired during the late 1990s, with Matt assuming leadership of the company.
Today DBK remains one of Jacksonville's largest general contractors and regularly delivers more than $100 million in annual construction volume.
Matt now serves as Chairman while day-to-day operations are led by an experienced executive team. Multiple generations of the Kenyon family have continued to work within the organization.

Inspired by a family tradition of Jacksonville entrepreneurship, Andrew Kenyon established A.R. Kenyon Company in April 2025.
After gaining civil engineering experience with England-Thims & Miller (ETM) and Brown & Gay Engineers (BGE), Andrew launched the firm with a vision of providing practice-focused civil engineering consulting services centered on technical excellence, responsiveness, and direct principal involvement.
The firm's mission is to provide a boutique alternative within an industry increasingly dominated by large regional and national providers.
A.R. Kenyon Company's first client was Andrew's uncle, Matthew Kenyon. Matt contracted the firm to provide drainage engineering services supporting development of the Bear Bay Mitigation Bank on his family tree farm.
That opportunity provided the foundation necessary for Andrew to launch the practice and begin serving clients throughout Florida.
